- Successfully defended large castings manufacturer in first criminal action brought by the Attorney General’s office under the Michigan Environmental Response Act. All charges were dismissed following trial.
- Successfully defended the first private cost recovery brought to trial under the Michigan Environmental Response Act.
- Represented owners of mineral interest in an inverse condemnation case brought against the State of Michigan. Obtained the largest verdict against the State in its history.
- Successfully developed three wireless telephone networks comprising a total of 900 sites. Work included site development, lease negotiations, zoning and litigation.
- Lead attorney on eight separate lawsuits under the telecommunications act of 1996 involving placement of wireless telephone facilities. All eight lawsuits resulted in construction of facilities on the proposed locations.
- Represented Pharmacia & Upjohn Company in class and derivative actions related to sales of sleep medication Halcion®.
- Successfully represented an auto manufacturer in multimillion-dollar environmental action.
- Defended local television station in libel suit where plaintiffs sought over $1,000,000 in damages. A favorable jury verdict was obtained.
- Defended, on a pro bono basis, prisoners in a civil rights suit involving First Amendment issues. The Court ruled in favor of the defendants following trial. Successfully defended action on appeal.
- Represented Pharmacia & Upjohn Company in an action to recover costs resulting from a voluntary cleanup of environmental contamination. A favorable settlement was obtained shortly before trial.
- Defended several white-collar criminal defendants charged with crimes in Western District of Michigan and Sixth Circuit.
- Served as general counsel for fourteen different independent telephone directory publishers on a variety of telecommunication, antitrust and First Amendment issues.
- Successfully defended on a pro bono basis Leelanau Trails Association in litigation brought by local municipalities to stop development of a bike trail.
- Defended major book publisher in hostile takeover litigation brought by minority shareholders. The Court dismissed all claims brought by plaintiff following an evidentiary hearing.
