Justin W. Stemple, a partner of the Grand Rapids office of Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, has been appointed to the NIA Centre Board.

Stemple’s one-year term will begin in June. The nonprofit, whose name in Swahili means “purpose,” is working to place a world-class African American Cultural Centre in Grand Rapids that will offer a unique, creative and innovative physical space to gather in order to inspire, build, transform and connect people of all ages. &nbsp; Stemple focuses his practice on employee stock ownership plans, qualified retirement plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans and executive compensation. He leads the firm’s Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation Practice Group and serves on the firm’s Management Committee. &nbsp; Stemple was named an Up and Coming Practitioner for Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Law in Michigan by&nbsp;Chambers USA&nbsp;in 2020, has been recognized as one of the&nbsp;Best Lawyers in America® since 2013 and was named to the Rising Star list from&nbsp;Michigan Super Lawyers&nbsp;for seven years. &nbsp; Active professionally, Stemple is an adjunct faculty member at Grand Valley State University, teaching a course on employee benefits to students seeking a master’s degree in tax or accounting. He is a member of the National Center for Employee Ownership and the ESOP Association and speaks and writes regularly on ESOPs and related issues. &nbsp; About the NIA Centre The NIA Centre is a nonprofit organization that has launched a major effort to place a world-class African American Cultural Centre in Grand Rapids. Based on four pillars – to inspire, connect, build and transform – the NIA Centre will focus on arts and entertainment; diversity, inclusion and racial equity; education; entrepreneurship and wealth building; health care; and research.
